Stone beyond the surface
PIATRAONLINE began with a simple yet radical idea for the industry: natural stone can be discovered, understood and chosen more easily. We created Romania’s first specialist online stone shop and have continued to change the way the material is presented, selected, processed and incorporated into projects. Today, we are a brand built at the intersection of design, technology and applied expertise.
We work with the finest quarries in the world, but what we offer doesn’t stop at the material. We curate collections with their own identity, develop processing technologies and services, create spaces where stone can be explored at full scale, and provide the entire workflow a project needs: from inspiration and selection through to cutting, customisation, transport and installation. A complex material becomes easier to understand and simpler to use when you have, alongside you, people who know it beyond the surface.
We are an independent company, grown organically by a family of entrepreneurs. We believe in long-term relationships, in shared knowledge and in the power of creative communities. We support the voices and projects that can change the way the spaces around us look, because true value lies not only in the stone itself, but in what we manage to build through it.

We don’t present stone as a standalone product, but as a starting point for ideas. We curate materials, collections, projects and perspectives that can open up new directions in design and architecture. We give visibility to the people changing the industry and to the projects that deserve to become landmarks.
Stone is a complex material: hard to select, transport, process and fit correctly. Our role is to strip away that complexity. We make it easier to discover, compare, understand and adapt to the technical and creative requirements of every project.
We have been digital-first from the very start, since launching Romania’s first online natural stone shop. We continue to invest in digital tools, display technologies, processing equipment and state-of-the-art systems that bring greater precision, transparency and access to every stage of a project.
The best projects need exceptional materials, but also partners who understand the direction behind them. We work alongside architects, designers, builders and creatives to find solutions where the standard option isn’t enough. We don’t reduce a vision to existing limits, we build around it.
Experience gains value when it’s shared. Through initiatives such as ArhiKit, events, resources, guides, samples and access to specialists, we create the conditions for professionals to learn, test, collaborate and build better. Know-how is not kept behind the workshop doors.
PIATRAONLINE is also a platform that brings together people, companies, quarries, workshops and ideas. We facilitate collaborations and build a stronger community around design and architecture, because important projects rarely happen in isolation. We launched PIATRAONLINE at a time when online commerce was associated almost exclusively with fashion, accessories and personal products. The idea of buying natural stone online seemed impossible. For me, innovation meant seeing ahead of the market how technology could transform a traditional industry, and building the infrastructure through which a heavy, complex and deeply tactile material could become digitally accessible.
Building PIATRAONLINE from scratch meant creating not just a company, but the entire system around it: team, processes, culture, trust and a standard that didn't yet exist in the market. I learned that a real organisation is built every day, through people, consistency and the courage to keep going even when you have no model to follow.
