Ceppo Grey marble was formed by cementing screes or crumbles that resulted from harder rocks. The frozen pebbles look embedded in the marble mass is due to the natural sediments that caused the formation in the first phase. Later, when subjected to extreme temperatures and pressures, these cemented screes turned to marble. A very popular stone, marble includes mainly calcite, and a significant percentage of magnesia, hence the slightly glassy look.
