Different aggressive agents damage stone in different ways. Here’s a breakdown of stain and defect types and how to fix them (TEST BEFORE USING THE RECOMMENDED SOLUTIONS, OR YOU RISK DAMAGING THE STONE EVEN FURTHER):

1. Organic stains (coffee, tea, white wine, certain fruits, tobacco, paper, various foods, urine, leaves, peel, bird droppings) – these are pinkish-brown and can fade once the source is removed. Outdoors, rain and sunlight can fade and clean these stains. We recommend LTP Grimex, LTP Power Stripper, LTP Solvex, and LTP Grout Stain Remover.

2. Grease stains (grease, plumbing sealants, tar, cooking oil, milk, cosmetics) – darken the stone surface. To remove the stain, we recommend LTP Spot Stain Remover combined with LTP Fullers Earth.

3. Stains from metal objects (iron, copper, bronze, brass) – the most common is rust, with its characteristic color. Stains from copper, bronze, or brass objects are green or mottled brown and appear as a result of moisture. These stain types are hard to remove, especially if old. LTP Rust Stain Remover can be a solution.

4. Mineral oil stains – found in garages, auto repair shops, parking lots, industrial facilities, and various workshops. We recommend the professional detergent LTP Power Stripper.

5. Biological stains (algae, mold, lichen, moss, fungi) – distinctive colors, mainly brownish green. Can also be dull black or intense yellow. The professional solution is LTP Blackspot & Algae Remover. For small indoor spaces, LTP Mouldex can be used.

6. Paint stains – come in various colors. Stubborn stains are removed with professional solutions LTP Power Stripper or LTP Solvex.

7. Soot or smoke stains – dark in color. LTP Stoneclean is the right solution.

8. Efflorescence – white, appearing as powder on the stone surface, coming from salts left behind after water carrying them from within evaporates. For persistent stains, a plumber should be contacted to determine the cause of the moisture. We recommend LTP Cement Grout & Salt Residue Remover.

9. Various stains from construction-site residue (adhesive, grout, wax, acrylic and polyurethane coatings, epoxy residue, etc.) – LTP Grout Stain Remover, LTP Cement Grout & Salt Residue Remover, and LTP Solvex are recommended.
