Area of Use
Mesh mounted mosaic is recommended for interior cladding projects, public or residential. There are mesh mounted mosaics from marble, travertine, onyx, and so on. Still, travertine is the most popular, next to marble mosaic. One of the benefits of travertine mosaic is the ability to be installed on curved surfaces (pillars, arches) and drywall surfaces.
Features
Travertine is a sedimentary rock, resulted from extended processes of erosion, sedimentation, compaction, and cementation of small particles, plus the plant and animal fossils. Travertine is sensitive to acids, and average durability against mechanical stress and abrasion.
Main features
- density: 2 440 kg/m³
- water absorption: 2.6 %
- bending strength: 13 MPa
- abrasion resistance: medium
- hardness (Mohs scale): 4
Sizes available:
Peach Herringbone Travertine Mosaic comes in 2.5 x 5 cm, polished finish.
Laying mesh mounted mosaic
The mosaic is made from pieces of stone flexibly bound to a mesh. Slate, marble, travertine, onyx are used, all with different sizes, shapes and colors. Lay them with adhesive, with or without joints. Recommended adhesives: Weberset ST 10; Weberset H2O; Stone, from adhesion class C1 and EX25 Max², Porcelain Max; Marmo Plus, C2 class.
Maintenance
Maintenance operations include the 3 essential steps: cleaning, surface sealing and maintenance. It is recommended to use alkaline cleaners (LTP Grimex, LTP Power Stripper) followed by the application of LTP MPG, LTP Grout&Tile Protector or LTP Mattstone H2O surface sealer over previously cleaned surfaces.
