Features
Ceppo Grey marble was formed by cementing screes or crumbles that resulted from harder rocks. The frozen pebbles look embedded in the marble mass is due to the natural sediments that caused the formation in the first phase. Later, when subjected to extreme temperatures and pressures, these cemented screes were converted into today’s marble. Marble includes mainly calcite, and a significant percentage of magnesia, hence the slightly glassy look. Because of its formation, Ceppo Grey Marble displays unique features:

– water absorption (normal conditions): 1.19 %
– mechanical strength (compression): 129 MPa
– mechanical strength (bending): 8.4 MPa
– freeze-thaw durability: excellent

The house recovers its Florentine-Moorish character through the restoration of the façades and the original details, reinterpreted in a contemporary, luminous and rigorously proportioned formula. The main volume is extended vertically, and the openings are recalibrated to bring the morning light inside and to connect the spaces of the house more clearly.
