Panoramic, a reinvented symbol of contemporary Brașov
Reconfiguring a landmark between architecture, view and memory
Built on Tâmpa in the 1970s, Panoramic returns as a careful rereading of a modernist landmark. The intervention preserves the building’s scale, proportions and structural logic, while clarifying the volumes, calibrating the light and turning the view over Brașov into an essential material of the architecture.
At almost 960 metres above sea level, the restaurant is not merely a viewpoint, but an experience built around the view. The routes, the transparencies, the timber and the natural stone create a succession of frames in which the interior does not compete with the landscape, but reflects it and draws it closer.
The intervention was completed in 2025, and the project’s published team includes Corvin Cristian, Adrian Oancea, Ana Malaianu and Alia Al’Jabbari.
Panoramic reopens its doors in a form that preserves the building's modernist memory and translates it through light, transparency, materiality and a direct relationship with the landscape.

Architecture as the infrastructure of experience
The Panoramic project works as a system in which architecture, access and operations are inseparable. The restaurant of around 470 seats and the modernised cable car, capable of carrying more than 500 people per hour in each direction, together build a fluid experience, from the city to the summit of Tâmpa.
The construction site meant precision at altitude: controlled access, short delivery windows, changeable weather and careful coordination of every stage. The result is an architecture in which the journey becomes a ritual, and arrival opens a new perspective over Brașov.
