Special cut-to-size pieces made of 2 cm flamed labradorite (countertops, stairs, and window sills) can be customized for your projects. Manufactured in our production facility, with state-of-the-art technology (waterjet/CNC cutting), the special cut-to-size pieces combine the elegant look of Extra Blue labradorite with the accuracy required for such products.

Features

Labradorite is an igneous rock mainly composed of feldspar and formed when liquid magma slowly freezes into solid rock, just like granite, which gave its trade name.

As a result, its main feature is “labradorescence”, an iridescence caused by light diffraction, and perceived by the viewer as a brilliant play of colors. This takes place due to a special light reflection in planes oriented in one direction.

Physical properties

  • density: 2 800-3 030 Kg/m3
  • hardness (Mohs scale): 6 – 6.5
  • water absorption: 0.11 – 0.49%
  • compressive strength: 146 – 224 MPa
  • fire rating: class A1 (non-flammable)

Granite Exterior and interior stairs | Granite Stairs and Risers

Nothing can beat the durability of a stone/granite staircase/step that will last a lifetime. You can go up and down the stairs, whether indoor or outdoor, and enjoy their unmatched look and functionality! The elegance of the custom-made risers also needs non-slip strips, particularly for outdoor stairs.

What you need to know about laying out outdoor/indoor stairs:

1. check the ramps/supporting ladder, that serves as a substrate, then measure and adjust any flatness errors, and sizing differences

2. prepare the support layer. This must be clean, smooth, flat, and load bearing

3. check the flatness. If the step is straight, there is no thickness variation over the surface. Any errors can be adjusted by the adhesive layer/screed.  Make sure you check flatness with a level spirit.

4. if not initially planned, edges can be processed on-site, with an angle grinder, equipped with abrasive discs.

5. measure and mark the stone step layout over the underlay

6. apply elastic adhesive to both the support and the slab (e. g. Weber MarmoPlus)

7. lay out the step over the underlay and hold it down

8. check the flatness with a level level

9. repeat the procedure for laying out the riser. When the step is longer and stands out, then the stone step is laid out first, then the riser. Otherwise, when the two join at a right angle, the rise can be laid out first.

NOTE: For an atypical size step/riser, you will need a 1:1 scale cardboard template. For such a situation, this is the only accepted procedure.

A quick 3-step maintenance needs to be carried out afterward.

1. Cleaning – only with LTP Grimex or LTP Power Stripper. Use specific cleaners for removing special stains.

2. Surface sealing – serves as protection against dust, water, grease, and staining, and is specific, depending on the installation site. We recommend LTP Mattstone/LTP Colour Intensifier for the interior and LTP Mattstone H2O for the exterior.

3. Maintenance – use neutral detergents, such as LTP Waxwash and LTP Stonewash.

For surface restoration treatments (e. g. corrosive stains, unknown stains) we suggest using the natural stone restoration kits from our product range.

Panoramic, a reinvented symbol of contemporary Brașov

Panoramic reopens its doors in a form that preserves the building's modernist memory and translates it through light, transparency, materiality and a direct relationship with the landscape. The original building dates from the 1970s, and the contemporary intervention preserves the scale, proportions and structural logic of the modernist landmark.
