The beauty of terrazzo tiles – Inspiration for a terrace wall
Bucharest Old Town – a blend between classic and modern, motivates our creativity in choosing the most inspired materials, capable of transforming a house into a home. Next, you will see Alexandru and Cristina’s reaction to this challenge. They selected Terrazzo Mix Pattern for cladding their terrace apartment in the Amzei area, in a new material from the series with the most beautiful projects completed by PIATRAONLINE customers.
Terrazzo is a special handmade material, in use in Europe, North Africa and America since 1857. The tradition of the Arabs that produced it in the Middle Ages was continued by the Spaniards, and at the end of the 19th century it spreads across the Mediterranean. The traditional manufacturing process, very old, is still maintained.

This material is used in cafes, bars, restaurants, for renovating old buildings and historical spaces. Terrazzo has always been used in combination with wood, parquet, ceramic tiles and natural stone. It is suitable for flooring, walls, kitchen countertops and work tables, both for public and residential areas.
"We have completely renovated an apartment in the Amzei area and decorated to match the neighborhood. The style is contemporary, with chromatic accents," Alexandru told us. He explored the solutions to "warm up" the ambience, for adding a touch of color and counteracting the grey tones. Although he never hired a designer, he studied instead dedicated blogs – for design and interior decorations. The sources of inspiration come from the Mediterranean, namely the Mediterranean tiles, but also the urban, non-conformist and eclectic style.
As soon as their ideas shaped up, the couple began searching for materials online. So, Alexandru and Cristina arrived at PIATRAONLINE and visited the showroom in Aleea Teişani. Assisted by a sales consultant, they decided on the Terrazzo Mix Pattern - a daring and inspired product that radically changed the setting and comfort in a very important area of the house - the terrace. "We were lucky because of the ample surface, approximately 10 square feet of space. Basically, this was critical when we decided to buy the apartment. It is where we like to spend our evenings before bedtime or the weekend mornings when we look at the urban show, courtesy of Calea Victoriei," says the couple.

We loved the final result: as a design object, the point of attraction is definitely the old painted “lada de zestre” that adds a warm, familiar and cozy space in perfect harmony with the details of the floral rug. Let's not forget the vivid colors decorations: turqoise, lemon or orange yellow, highlighting the eclectic ambience and enhancing the dynamism of the terrazzo wall.
