Screed
Screeds are used to even out and level floors.
A leveling screed is based on a mix with coarser-grain sand. It’s applied directly onto a concrete substrate, old ceramic tile, or wood. The thickness of the leveling screed depends on floor traffic, whether the floor is insulated or heated, and other factors. A leveling screed is poured wet, semi-dry, or dry. There are several screed types: bonded (monolithic), unbonded (with separating layers), and floating (with several separating layers of polystyrene, mineral wool, PVC film, etc., serving an insulating role).
Weber D10 screed is used to level the floor. It has high mechanical strength. It’s poured in a layer 2-5 cm thick. Applying GR 100 primer to the surface beforehand is recommended. Catalog consumption is 40 kg/sqm for a 2 cm layer. Supplied as a powder, in 30 kg bags.
One bag is enough to cover 0.75 sqm at a 2 cm thickness.
Self-leveling screed has a finer grain and is applied to even out (level) a surface, either directly on the substrate or over a previously poured leveling screed (which needs a primer first).
Weberplan Profi self-leveling screed is used to level the floor. It’s poured in a layer 2-10 mm thick. It has good compressive strength (contains reinforcing fibers). Catalog consumption is 1.65 kg/sqm for a 1 mm thick layer. Supplied as a powder, in 25 kg bags.
One bag is enough to cover 15 sqm at a 1 mm thickness.
For heated floors, it’s best to use the screeds recommended by the heating system supplier.
