Thermal insulation system
Thermal insulation systems use a thermal insulator (mineral wool, polystyrene) and adhesives with specific properties
For expanded polystyrene, Weber P37 is recommended. For mineral wool, Weber P40 max2 is needed, while for graphite-enhanced and expanded polystyrene, Weber P39max2 works well. Weber R40 max adhesive is recommended for mineral wool and expanded polystyrene, and Weber P50max2 for expanded and extruded polystyrene as well as mineral wool. Under these conditions, how well stone tiles adhere to the base layer is closely tied to the components of the thermal insulation system and how it’s installed. Insulation elements can be mounted on the façade using 2 methods: a continuous adhesive bed, which involves applying adhesive continuously over the insulation panel, and a perimeter-and-point method, which involves applying adhesive around the panel’s edge and at a few points inside it.
After installing the insulation material on the façade, anchors are installed, followed by reinforcement. After installing special profiles, a layer of adhesive is applied and the mesh is embedded into the freshly applied adhesive (base coat). Reinforcing mesh is recommended for walls (Weber Mesh Classic) and for walls, plinths, and foundations (Weber Mesh Prestige). After a 3-5 day rest period, stone tile cladding can proceed (using the specific Marmo Plus and Portelanat Max2 adhesives), taking the tiles’ weight into account.
