Think of how a joiner works timber, how a blacksmith handles iron – in just the same way our stonemasons finish stone, so that we can produce bespoke pieces for you and your project, exactly as you want them. Whether they are Kitchen Worktops, Window Sills or Steps, our clients choose polished Volakas Brown marble 3 cm thick. Bespoke pieces in 2 cm polished Volakas Brown marble (worktops, steps, window sills) are made to standard or bespoke sizes, according to your needs. Produced in our own workshop using modern technology (“waterjet” cutting or CNC), bespoke pieces combine the elegant look of Volakas – Brown marble with the precision such products require.

White Marble Window Sills | Interior and Exterior Window Boards
Outdoors, marble window sills are fitted with a fall of 5% to allow rainwater to run off, plus a drip groove on 1 long side; these sills are machined / cut to suit your project, with the option of choosing different treatments – (edge profiles: half bullnose, bevelled) drip groove, etc.

What you need to know about fitting white marble window sills outdoors or indoors. Marble window boards are fitted:
• by bonding to the masonry, using suitable adhesives
• by recessing into the wall, in the following steps:

1. the marble sill is set in position
2. it is recessed into the wall
3. the area where the wall meets the sill is protected with masking tape
4. a layer of sealant is applied to the joint between the sill and the wall
5. it is smoothed along the joint
6. the tape is removed
7. the excess sealant is cleaned off

• by fixing to the window profile at the points provided by its manufacturer
• by fixing with rods set into holes drilled in the edge of the sill and anchored into the wall
• on brackets fitted into the wall

NOTE: For window sills / boards with non-standard dimensions, templates are required; these are sent to us by courier or in person, so that we can prepare the quotation.

Exterior and interior marble stairs / steps | Marble treads and risers
What could be more durable than a natural stone / marble staircase or step that lasts a lifetime. So walk up and down your interior or exterior stairs and enjoy their perfect appearance and functionality! The elegance of risers made to your preferences also calls for the practicality of anti-slip strips machined into the surface of the tread, particularly in the case of exterior steps.

What you need to know about fitting exterior / interior steps and stairs:
1. the flights / supporting staircase on which the steps are to be fitted are checked, measured, and any flatness errors and dimensional differences are corrected (in the screed – re-screeding)
2. the substrate is prepared; it must be clean, smooth, flat and load-bearing)
3. the flatness of the tread is checked; it  should have the same thickness across its whole surface, so that the step is level.
Any minor errors are corrected in the adhesive layer or the screed.
Flatness is checked with a spirit level
4. if edge machining (bevelled, half bullnose, etc.) was not specified initially, it can be carried out on site with an angle grinder (Flex) fitted with abrasive discs
5. the position of the stone tread on the supporting surface is measured and marked out
6. flexible adhesive is applied both to the substrate and to the slab (e.g.: Weber MarmoPlus)
7. the slab is set on the supporting step and bonded to it.
8. flatness is checked continuously with a spirit level
9. the riser is fitted in the same way. If the tread is longer and extends beyond the length and width of the support, then the stone tread is fitted first, followed by the riser. If this is not the case and the two meet at a right angle, then the riser can be fitted first.

NOTE: For steps / risers with non-standard dimensions, a 1:1 scale cardboard template must be made, based on the concrete (or brick) staircase. The treads and risers are then produced from this template.

Made-to-order marble kitchen and bathroom worktops | Natural stone kitchen worktops
For kitchen or bathroom worktops we recommend a thickness of 3 cm, although 2 cm can also be used without any problem. If you want a unique surface for your kitchen or bathroom worktop, choose polished Volakas Brown marble. Its low water absorption and  resistance to mechanical impact make the worktop useful and practical. Its uniqueness and appearance make it ideal for high-end schemes you can be proud of. In our production department we make bespoke / “tailor made” worktops by cutting directly from slabs; this is done after precise measurements and after checking the installation area (the walls must meet at a right angle).

Edge treatments (half bullnose, full bullnose, bevelled, polishing, bonding), basin cut-outs, drip grooves and core drilling are carried out on site.

What you need to know about installation:
1. preliminary measurements and checks are carried out by the fitting team
2. the supporting units (cabinets, brackets) are fitted and secured
3. the flatness of the supporting surface is checked with a spirit level.
4. the type of edge profile is chosen (if it is machined on site)
Additional machining: this can also be carried out on site, using an angle grinder with an abrasive disc, then finished with abrasive paper of various grits
5. the cut-outs for the sink (and any sockets) are made with a circular saw fitted with a diamond blade and a core bit (for a tap mounted on the worktop), then finished.
6. flatness and alignment are checked
7. the worktop is set on the units
8. silicone is applied between the worktop and the wall (upstand) and between the worktop and the units.
9. the sink and the tap are fitted.

NOTE: In most cases a natural stone kitchen worktop is completed with an upstand, also in natural stone. The role of the upstand is to protect the wall from splashes during food preparation, which is why it is important that the material chosen be hard-wearing and easy to clean. In addition to these aspects, the upstand should fit in with the surrounding wall cladding and with the overall design line. For a polished Volakas Brown marble worktop,  pairing it with tiles in the same material is a natural choice: https://www.piatraonline.ro/marmura-volakas-polisata-61-x-30-5-x-1-cm-standard

LONG-LASTING BESPOKE PIECES
Find out now how to care for your kitchen or bathroom worktop and your exterior or interior stair treads, because whatever type of bespoke pieces you order, they must be protected from aggressive environmental factors and from household accidents that can affect their appearance and texture.

Simple, quick treatments in 3 steps, carried out after installation.
1. Cleaning – carried out with LTP Grimex or LTP Power Stripper. Specific products (cleaners) are used to remove particular stains
2. Sealing – protecting surfaces against dust, water, grease and certain stains differs according to where the stone is installed. LTP MPG is recommended for interior installation and LTP Mattstone H2O for exterior installation. For superior protection of worktops, the silver-ion antibacterial kit is recommended
3. Maintenance – neutral cleaners are used: LTP Waxwash and LTP Stonewash.

For surface restoration treatments (e.g. corrosive stains, stains of various origins), the new natural stone restoration kits are recommended.
Special protection for worktops is achieved with:
• silver-ion antibacterial kit
• Safe Marble

  • Thickness 3
  • Colour variation Medium

Panoramic, a reinvented symbol of contemporary Brașov

Panoramic reopens its doors in a form that preserves the building's modernist memory and translates it through light, transparency, materiality and a direct relationship with the landscape. The original building dates from the 1970s, and the contemporary intervention preserves the scale, proportions and structural logic of the modernist landmark.

Casa Icoanei, interwar heritage reconfigured for the present

The house recovers its Florentine-Moorish character through the restoration of the façades and the original details, reinterpreted in a contemporary, luminous and rigorously proportioned formula. The main volume is extended vertically, and the openings are recalibrated to bring the morning light inside and to connect the spaces of the house more clearly.
